Evola Lee Swann, 79, of Show Low died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, in Phoenix. She was born Nov. 12, 1936, in San Diego, Calif., the daughter of Luther and Beatrice Lanier.

Evola was a loving and devoted mother to not only her five children but her grandchildren as well. Early in her life she was as an avid swimmer and a New York Yankees fan. She enjoyed attending her children’s sporting events, football, basketball and scorekeeper of their baseball teams.

In later life she was a member of the Red Hat’s Ladies Club and was fond of line dancing. She enjoyed music of all varieties. She is also was a big political junkie who enjoy her Sunday mornings watching “Meet The Press” and all shows of that nature.

She is survived by her sister, Virginia Lee Chavez of Medford, Ore.; five children, Michael L. Swann of Fort Wayne, Ind., Michelle L. Berge of Lancaster, Pa., Mark L. Swann of Aguilar, Colo., Mara L. Hallon of Flagstaff and Mitchell L. Swann of Lancaster, Pa.; six grandchildren, Paul Berge, Elizabeth A. Colwell, Jessica Herst, Nathan F. Herst, Jacob A. Herst and Sarah N. Herst; and great-grandchildren Rayne M. Colwell, Aidan J. Berge and Rebecca M. Berge; niece Georgette M. Call; nephews Eddie D. Hash and Chet A. Hash. She is also survived by Robert W. Swann of Colorado Springs, Colo., her former husband and partner of over 30 years.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the United Methodist Church, 261 N. 5th St., in Show Low.
