Virginia L. (Honey) (Pena) Tafoya

Virginia L. “Honey” Pena Tafoya, 78, died March 3, 2016, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 1, 1937, in St. Johns to Grace and Eddie Pena, who preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were her brother, Frank Pena, and her favorite niece, Joanna Duvall.

Virginia is survived by her six children, Angela Figueroa Baca of St. Johns, Anthony Figueroa of Mesa, Jesse Figueroa of St. Johns, Patricia “Tisha” Figueroa of Longmont Colo., Philip Figueroa of St. Johns and Maria Tafoya of Longview, Texas; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings Odelia/Fred Duvall of Sun Valley, Eddie Pena Jr. of California and Grace Pusich of Lakeside.

Virginia was loved by her many family and friends, who will always be remember her love of music and witty personality. She worked a variety of jobs up until she became disabled but never let that disability get in her way as she cared for her parents until the moment they passed away

She was an incredibly strong woman with a huge heart when it came to her family and close friends and will remain in hearts of many that loved her.

The recitation of the holy rosary will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 95 S. 2nd St. East in St. Johns, followed by Mass at 10 a.m. A reception will immediately follow the memorial at the church hall.

The family wishes to extend a huge thank you to those who were a big part of her life and the support for her and her family as they were preparing for the final weeks of her life. God Bless you all.
