Carolyn Griffee died Feb. 27, 2016, with her family by her side in Gilbert. She was born Feb. 19, 1937, in Phoenix to Gordon Griffee and Wilma (Billie) Griffee.

Carolyn loved life and enjoyed her family and friends. She is survived by her sister, Janice Osborn; brother-in-law Dennis Osborn; niece Christy Osborn; nephew Ryan Osborn (Merritt); niece Debbie (Osborn) Cuthbertson (Eddie); grandnieces Natalie Osborn, Brooke Osborn and Kaitlin Cuthbertson; and grandnephew Lucas Cuthbertson.

Her sincere, loving personality, selfless dedication to her family and warm conversations will be sorely missed by all those in her life.

Carolyn was raised in Superior in the shadows of her favorite mountain, Picket Post. She graduated from Superior High School in 1955. She attended Arizona State University and graduated with a degree in secondary education and later earned a master’s in education from Northern Arizona University.

Carolyn dedicated her life to teaching high school English and spent her entire career at Bagdad High School in Bagdad from 1959 until she retired in 1997. She then moved to her favorite vacation spot in Pinetop, where she spent her remaining years enjoying the seasons in her cabin home.

The family is holding a private ceremony to celebrate her life and asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the COPD Foundation be made in her honor.
