| The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 03/18/2016 William Hawkins Jr. entered eternal rest unexpectedly March 6, 2016, in Mesa, where he resided. He was born Sept. 16, 1987, in Show Low to Joyce George and William Hawkins Sr. William was better known as “Boy.” He had a passion for cooking and was blessed to have numerous jobs as a line cook at Sunrise Ski Resort, Hon-Dah Casino and Denny’s in Tempe. He was employed at Cracker Barrel at Mesa Riverview at the time of his death. Not only was he a cook but he also held a job as a butcher at Mecon Supermarket in Mesa. He loved playing his drums and was a drummer for R-55 band gatherings during the summer. He would gather with his cousins and friends, and they would set up outside at his grandma’s house and play for hours. William will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He knew when you were down and could instantly turn your sadness to happiness. He will truly be missed by his mother, Joyce (Wilbert) George; father William (Mary) Hawkins Sr.; sister JoShawna Hawkins; uncles Andrew (Barbara) Kane, Edwin (Candance) Kane, Steven (May) Kane, Alvino (Andrena) Hawkins and Larrison Hawkins; auntie Judy Quintero; and grandmothers Juana Kane and Evelyn Barbosa. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rev. Billy Kane, grandmother Florence Hawkins, and Rudy Barbosa, Clarence Hawkins and Effie Dahkoshay. A two-night wake will start at 10 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Seven Mile, below the Seven Mile Miracle Church at the residence of his mom, Joyce, and Wilbert George. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at Canyon Day Miracle Church. He will be laid to rest at R-14 Cemetery in Cedar Creek. “May you rest in peace ‘Boy.’” Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor handled arrangements. See Also: Find A Grave |
