Pauline Schneider, devoted wife and beloved mother of three, was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, into the home of devout Pennsylvania Brethren in Christ, a sect of plain Christians in the Pennsylvania "Dutch" tradition.

She graduated from Grantham Academy, now Messiah University. She married her high school sweetheart, Gordon Henry Schneider of Merrill, Michigan, the ceremony taking place at her parent's home in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The groom's father, the late Bishop Henry Schneider officiated.

It was a source of great pride to both of them, that they were married for nearly 73 years before Gordon's passing two years ago.

Pauline's love of music compelled her to practice for the love of the music alone. She performed in a women's traveling vocal quartet in high school, completing many tours with the extremely popular group within her Christian community.

Pauline was a formidable pianist and eventually organist. She was gifted with the rare "perfect pitch." Her music sight reading skills and piano flourishes, placed her in great demand in every Christian community in which she lived until arthritis in her hands finally prevented her from continuing at the keyboard.

As one admirer said, "I didn't know that a piano could be played the way that Pauline Schneider played it." Church activities, caring for her husband, children and grandchildren, as well as sewing, cooking and handwork were her other passions.

She worked as a substitute teacher, and for Arizona Public Service.

She is survived by three children: Gene, Gerald, and Sue, four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

She will be laid to rest alongside her husband Gordon, who she loved devotedly and faithfully for nearly seven and one half decades.

A memorial service will be held at Clarkdale Baptist Church, 1050 State Hwy 89A, Clarkdale, AZ., at 11 AM, April 2.
