| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, March 13, 2016, page 9a Ingeborg Schindler March 19, 1928 - March 2, 2016 lngeborg Schindler, 87, of Prescott Valley, and formerly of Flagstaff and Tucson, passed into the arms of the Lord at Good Samaritan, Prescott Valley, surrounded by family and friends, on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. She was born in Schleswig, Germany on March 19, 1928 to Elli and Wilhelm Schwennesen. She grew up and completed her education in Germany and worked as a hairdresser there. lnge married Horst J. Schindler on July 24, 1948 in Schleswig, Germany. They immigrated to the United States with their first child and arrived in New York on March 31, 1952. They became United States citizens on April 27, 1959, while living in Connecticut. Inge and Horst moved to Tucson in 1976 and Flagstaff in 1992. Horst passed away on July 17, 2002, leaving lnge a widow after 52 years of marriage. She moved to Prescott Valley in 2006. During her time in Tucson, she worked at Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital, starting out in the housekeeping department and then taking the courses necessary to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was very proud of this accomplishment, as the coursework was made more difficult by the fact that reading English was challenging for her. She was also chairman of the hospital’s “Helping Hands” program, which served to help fellow employees during times of need. Her time in Flagstaff saw her volunteering her time at the local food bank, in keeping with her overwhelming wish to help others. After moving to Prescott Valley, she of course found the local food bank and began volunteering there. The “Needful Things” branch of the food bank brought her great joy. Inge was pre-deceased by her parents, her brother Gerd Schwennesen and her sister Else Schonherr both of Germany, her son-in-law Ben Dobson of Cottonwood, and her husband Horst. She is survived by four daughters, Sadie (Scott) Gupton of Prescott Valley, Susan (Clarence) Collins and Monica (Eddie) Leazier of Flagstaff, and Sheila Dobson of Cottonwood; five grandchildren, Donna (Scott) Walz of Prescott Valley, Jeff (Crysty) Holmes of Prescott, Joey (Brandy) Collins, Trisha (Bryce) Wilson and Jessica Leazier all of Flagstaff. She is also survived by her brother Wihelm Schwennesen; sisters Christel Gottshalk, and Sedi Schneider all of Germany. She had 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Inge was greatly loved and will forever be missed by family and friends. She never knew a stranger and touched countless lives with her huge heart and charitable works. A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 7947 Autumn Sage, Prescott Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Samaritan Society — Marley House, 1063 Ruth St., Prescott, AZ 86301. Hampton Funeral Home assisted the family.
