Douglas Dean Hamm U.S. Veteran
December 16, 1938 - March 15, 2016

Douglas Dean Hamm, 77, of Prescott, Arizona, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. He was born Dec. 16, 1938 to Elmer and Ann Hamm in Rockford, Illinois.

Douglas graduated from East Rockford High school in 1958 and joined the Navy in 1961, serving as a Naval photographer until 1965, when he was honorably discharged from the Navy and returned to Rockford to work as a commercial and architectural photographer.

In 1975, Douglas assisted Ansel Adams in his June Yosemite National Park workshops along with other notable photographers.

Douglas loved the natural beauty of the Southwest and moved his business to the Phoenix, Arizona area. There he enjoyed a successful career as a commercial and architectural photographer. His fine art photographs were his true passion and he produced a beautiful collection of Spiritual Images, adding to each a verse of scripture that served as a silent witness to God.

Crappie fishing, and Dutch oven cooking were Doug’s hobbies and boating on Roosevelt Lake in Arizona with his best friend, Gene Mumma, also a former Rockford resident, was Doug’s favorite pastime.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; his daughters, Erika Marie Granic (Matthias) and Theresa Anne Hughes; his granddaughter, Savannah Marie Granic; his twin brother, Dennis Hamm (Fran); a mother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and several beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Ann Hamm of Rockford.

A celebration of Doug’s life will be on April 2, 2016, in The Desert Community Christian Fellowship Church, Tonto Basin, Arizona.
