| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Thursday, March 24, 2016, page 6a Charles “'Chuck'” Kennedy - U.S. Veteran August 9, 1927 - March 12, 2016 Charles “Chuck” Kennedy passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Marley House in Prescott; finally free of Parkinson’s disease. He was born Aug. 9, 1927 to Willard and Myrtle Kennedy in Chanute, Kansas. Chuck was a graduate of Prescott High School, class of 1945. He played quarterback on the championship’s football team and has maintained friendships with many of his classmates. He joined the U.S. Marines in June 1945. After graduation from the U of A, Tucson, he was employed by the U.S. Forest Service as a Wildlife Biologist. He retired in 1983. Always an advocate for wild plants and animals, he pushed for their preservation. Firefighting in U.S. Forests is part of his legacy. Chuck is survived by his wife of 65 years, Tonya Lynch; daughters, Carene Stewart, Wendy Kennedy; son Daniel Kennedy; three grandchildren; one great grandson; and sister, Myrna Kalember. No public service is planned at this time. He wanted his remains donated to science. Information provided by survivors. |
