| Owens Livingston Mortuary, Show Low, Arizona Marlin Glen Perkins May 8, 1941 - March 23, 2016 Marlin Glen Perkins, 74, passed away peacefully among members of his family on March 23, 2016. Marlin was born May 8th, 1941, in Clay Springs, Arizona, a town he loved and where he lived most of his life. As a young man he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guatemala, in the Central American Mission. Later he served in the United States Army. He graduated from Brigham Young University - and was always a fan, perhaps mostly because he met his sweetheart and eternal companion there. They married in the Salt Lake City Temple and lived with and loved each other for 51 years. He loved kids and worked as a teacher in Montana and Arizona for a combined 29 years. He taught many students in his community and was referred to fondly as “Mister.” He also loved working and walking in the woods and was employed by the US Forest Service part and full-time for 25 years. After retirement he and his wife served three church missions together in Santiago, Dominican Republic, in Montevideo, Uruguay, and in Panama City, Panama. Marlin loved God, his life, the earth, and his family. He enjoyed hiking, gardening, reading, babies, and napping. He is survived by his wife, Edie Menssen Perkins of Clay Springs, Arizona; his daughter, Liesel (Darren) Webb; son, Jeff (Jodi) Perkins; daughter, Julie (Chad) Masters; his brothers, Cecil Perkins, Gerald Perkins, Allan Perkins, Randall Perkins; his sisters, Jane Taylor, Marcia Whipple, Cecelia Casey, Shirleen Pruitt; 23 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Andy Perkins; brother, Ben Perkins, and his parents, Ben and Cecelia Perkins. Funeral Services will be held at the Clay Springs Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5150 Highway 260, on Friday, April 1st starting at 1:00 P.M. with a viewing starting one hour prior. Burial will follow at the Perkins Family Cemetery in Clay Springs, Arizona. |
