Captain Bruce
Captain Arthur R. Bruce, late of the 36th Wisconsin Infantry, was stricken, Saturday morning, with an apoplectic stroke, and passed away that evening, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Bruce in this city.
The former is a son, and a few months ago the deceased came to this city in the hope of a change in climate proving beneficial, and also to visit relatives.
Captain Bruce was on of the valiant soldiers of the Civil War, and was highly regarded for his ability in that memorable conflict.
He was a native of Scotland, and his funeral, Sunday, was held under the auspices of the G.A.R., of which he was an ardent member. He was 65 years of age.
Surviving him are his wife, Carrie of Los Angeles; three sons, C.A. Bruce, of this city, Alfred J. and R. C. Bruce of California, and one daughter, Mrs. Therin McDonald, of California.
The pallbearers were Comrades, Major Doran, Captain Tea, A. J. Judd, George Houlihan, John Kinney and A. J. Rupert. The funeral took place from the Maus chapel, and many were in attendance.
