Richard "Dick" Paul Fletcher was born in Clarinda, Iowa on April 19, 1929. He died peacefully on November 7, 2015 in Wickenburg, Arizona at age 86.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Grace Fletcher; 4 daughters--Jolene Fletcher (Douglas King) of Penticton, B.C., Julie Fletcher-Tighe (Michael Tighe) of Soquel, CA, Sara Gremel (David Gremel) of Brighton, CO, and Karen Fletcher (Ron Martin) of Melrose, FL; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and his sister Donna Hughes (Don Hughes) of Brighton, CO. He was predeceased by his son Richard Fletcher, Jr. and sister Doris Diehl.

Dick joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1948 at the age of 19 and served as a Sergeant in the Korean War. He was proud to be among the "Chosin Few," a survivor of the battle of the Chosin Reservoir, a brutal battle in subzero temperatures that upheld the highest standards of Marine Corps tradition.

After leaving the Marine Corps he received a degree in forestry from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO in 1959. He began his career working as a forester with the US Forest Service for several years, and then worked with the Arkansas State Forestry Commission, serving as District Forester, both in Harrison and Malvern, Arkansas.

Forestry was far more than an educational degree and a job for Dick Fletcher. The forest and the mountains were his love and his passion. His family recalls camping trips and hikes through the mountains, both on trail and off, so he could bring them the experience he so loved. In addition to forestry, he was passionate about his love for family, and cherished the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He retired in 1991, and after retirement, he and his wife moved to Colorado for a few years. Then they traveled the country in their RV, eventually returning to Harrison, Arkansas for 15 years before moving to Wickenburg, AZ in 2014.

Services will be held in Brighton, Colorado, at a later date.
