| The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 04/15/2016 James Sheldon Webb Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin James Sheldon Webb was called to his heavenly home April 9, 2016, in Gilbert. He was born April 11, 1943, in Snowflake to James (Jay) Webb and Marion (Brenay) Webb. His patriotism and the love he had for his country was shown by his 2-1/2 years of service in the Air Force. Upon his return from duty he married Inez Karen Prather, after which they attended Northern Arizona University together. They were blessed with three boys and a marriage of 51 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Inez Webb of Casa Grande/ Lakeside: sons James Shared (Tami), Jay Sterling (Kerri) and Jeremy Sean (Carrie); eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Diane (Scott) Hall, Drinette (Don) Ellison, Daphne (Curtis) Scott and DeEdra (Dick) Breckenridge. He was preceded in death by both parents and brother Jamar, who died in infancy. Sheldon was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In addition to his many church callings he accomplished his goal to serve a mission as he and his wife labored in the Lima, Peru, mission for 18 months, an experience that brought both of them not only great joy but also many lifelong friends and acquaintances. He spent 32-plus years in education, his chosen career. Sheldon was an exceptional math teacher and later served as assistant principal at Show Low High School from 1984-90. His teaching skills began in Arizona and ended in Arizona, but in between these skills gave him the opportunity to bless the lives of students at the American International Schools in Kuwait, Panama and Sao Paulo, Brazil. This enabled him to travel extensively throughout the world with his family and fulfilled his great love for traveling. In addition to this, he was a gifted artist, linguist and talented athlete, excelling in football, basketball and tennis. Sheldon was devoted to his eternal companion and sweetheart. He was especially appreciative of the compassionate care she gave him when he was faced with the health challenges and setbacks that occurred during the last six months of his life. Every child, grandchild and great-grandchild were precious to him and held a special place in his heart. He made every effort to support them in all of their activities; spending time with family was a top priority. Sheldon was a kind, generous, compassionate and very loving person. He never hesitated to help those who were in need. He was the epitome of the Good Samaritan. A friend said this of him: “Sheldon was there for support to me and many others and has a special place in the hearts of many. He was a man that God put on the earth to touch and inspire many, and he exceeded in that challenge. The world is at a loss for the soul that we just lost.” Sheldon will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He has left a big hole in the hearts of his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 15, at the Lakeside Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1400 Church Lane, in Lakeside.
