Pioneer Passes Away

Nelson Gabel, on of the best known of the pioneer colony, passed away yesterday morning at the Mercy hospital. His death was due to Bright's disease of the kidneys, with which he had been afflicted for many years. Mr. Gabel was brought to the city about ten days ago, in feeble condition, and never rallied from his illness.

He had been a resident of this section for a third of a century, and bore an excellent name with all. He had mining interests in the Crook Canyon district. He was aged about 72 years.

The body is at Ruffner's parlors.

Funeral Of Pioneer

(From Friday's Daily)

Many friends of the late Nelson Gable (sic) were present yesterday when his funeral took place from the Ruffner parlors, and sorrow was generally expressed over the loss of this well known and popular pioneer.

No relatives were present, telegrams from a brother in Spokane, Wash., and a nephew, Joseph E. Brown, in Sacramento, Cal., being received, to bury the body in this city, as they were unable to be present.

Rev. Clyde W. Deming of the Methodist Episcopal church, officiated, and interment was had in the Citizens cemetery.

A pleasing feature of the funeral was the large number of acquaintances who came from the districts adjacent to Prescott to pay their last respects.

The pallbearers were, John Kinney, George Merwin, Joe Wilson, Mr. Birch, H. E. Applustill and C. R. Wallace.
