Lou Edith “Luda” Soldwedel, widow of Donald Soldwedel, passed on April 13, 2016, two days before her 91st birthday.

Her family was with her – a son, Joe Soldwedel; a daughter, Ann Buxie and husband Rick Buxie; three grandchildren – Kelly Soldwedel Thornhill and husband Joe Thornhill; Brett Soldwedel and wife Aparna; and Jill Buxie; two great-grandchildren – Kinsey Soldwedel and Lake Thornhill; and Pam Soldwedel, mother of Kelly and Brett.

Luda spent most of her life in Arizona, attending the University of Arizona then moving to Yuma in the early 1950s, where they raised their family and began their involvement with newspapers. Her husband, Don, became general manager of the Yuma Daily Sun in 1953. Don and Luda bought the Prescott Courier from the Stewart family in 1958. They returned to Tucson in later years and lived at the Academy Village.

We, her family, were lucky to have her as mother, grandma, and friend. Her determination is the wind beneath our wings.
