Robert Wesley Puryear 1949-2016

Robert Wesley Puryear passed on to a better place on April 4, 2016 in Camp Verde, Arizona.

Robert was affectionately known by his friends and family as Rob. He was lucky enough to have lived in the Sedona & Cottonwood area for the past 12 years where he worked remotely for IBM as an IT Project Manager.

In his younger years, he developed a passion for rock climbing and exploring the many outdoor wonders of Northern Arizona. He also shared a love for music, family and enjoyed helping others through various natural, spiritual and massage healing techniques including being a Reiki Master.

Rob enjoyed reading, writing, playing the drums and riding his motorcycle. He was about everything to do with preserving the earth and nature and loved his time volunteering at Unity Church of Phoenix working on their prayer garden.

He was born September 17, 1949 in El Dorado, AK to Marvin & Lou Puryear. The family moved several times including Tulsa, OK; Dallas, TX; and Morristown, NJ. Rob attended the University of Texas, Arlington following his interest in Computer Science and later earning his PPM certification.

Robert is survived by his son Jeremy C. Puryear (Granbury, TX); daughter Shayla A. Puryear of Prescott (formerly Sedona & Cottonwood); his father Marvin L. Puryear, Scottsdale; sister Mary L. Thieme, Scottsdale; and brother Bill L. Puryear also from Scottsdale.

Robert is preceded in death by his loving mother Emma Louise Puryear (2001). Robert's memory will remain in our hearts and prayers forever as his giving legacy continues.

A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to Unity Church of Phoenix (www.unityphx.org/donation).

A special email address is set up for 90 days to send thoughts and prayers to the family at RWPsedona@yahoo.com.
