The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, May 04, 2016 Eugene E. Smith, 93, of Duluth, Minn., passed away March 30, 2016, at Essentia Health surrounded by his family. Eugene was born in Tillamook, Ore., Oct. 10, 1922, to the late Charles and Jean Smith. He married Yvonne Larson in 1942. She preceded him in death in 1990. Eugene married Lorraine Habberstad in 1994. Eugene joined the Army in 1943; WWII, and Korea, earning two Silver Stars, two Bronze Stars, and a Purple Heart. He received his honorable discharge in 1953. He lived an extraordinary life, with many interests and hobbies, which he enjoyed throughout his long retirement. He is preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers; son Steven; step-son Tony Bujold; grandson David, and great-great-grandson Logan. Survivors include his wife Lorraine; two sons Scott, Courtney (Susie) Smith; one step-daughter Mary Beth Bujold; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; and cousins. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Animal Allies of Duluth, 4006 Airport Rd., Duluth, MN 55811. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Ecumen Lakeshore Chapel, 4004 London Rd., Duluth. Pastor Mark Kelly will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the services. Graveside services will be held at the 100F Cemetery at a later date in Tillamook, Ore.
