| Norvel Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff, Arizona James "Jim" A Gore (February 22, 1947 - April 19, 2016) James A. "Jim" Gore of Flagstaff, AZ passed away on April 19, 2016. He was born in Fresno, CA on May 22, 1947. He proudly served in the 101st Airbourne Division of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. Beginning in the early 1960's, he became an avid surfer in Southern California. He later became an accomplished skier and ski instructor and motorcycle enthusiast. Jim started his career at a Long Beach, CA ship building company, working in the maintenance department. He eventually worked his way up to executive vice president, overseeing thousands of employees in the multi-million dollar operation with large classified military contracts. After retiring from the shipyard, he moved to Big Bear, CA where he started a highly successful painting business, which he later moved to Flagstaff, AZ. He continued running his painting business until he permanently retired in the early 2000's. In retirement, he began enjoying his hobbies of restoring classic cars and successfully competing in numerous car shows. Jim was a valued member of several local car clubs including The Route 66 Car Club, Highland Rods and Reels and the Flagstaff Cruisers. Jim is survived by his wife LuAnn Hunt, son Jason (Chanel), granddaughter Kylah, a large extended family, his beloved cat Barney and his close friends in "the hood." Jim will always be remembered for his humor, courage in his long fight against Parkinson's disease and his willingness to jump in and help anyone. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30th at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66, Flagstaff, AZ at 10:00 A.M.
