| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, May 4, 2016, page 7a Amie Lee (Cobabe) Cobb quietly passed with the morning sunrise at her home in Prescott Valley, Arizona on Sunday May 1, 2016, at the age of 42, due to complications from cancer treatments, which she had endured with grace and courage since her early childhood. Her decision to cease treatment allowed friends and loved ones to say a final good-bye, which was a touching experience for all who were able to participate. Many family and friends will long cherish the experiences of the week preceding her passing. Amie is survived by her husband of nearly 25 years, Gordon Burl Cobb; and her children, Ian Joseph 19 and Courtnie Jean Cobb 14. She is also survived by her loving parents, Fredrick William and Valerie Jean Cobabe; and her brothers, Bill, Andy, Josh and Alex; and sisters, Michelle Loosli and Lindsey Livingston, along with their spouses; and many nieces and nephews. Amie was born July 2, 1973 in Torrance, California. She graduated from Mountain View High School in Orem, Utah in 1990 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Brigham Young University in 1995. At BYU, she toured many countries as a member of the Synthesis jazz band and the Wind Symphony. She began her teaching career as a music teacher in the Chandler Unified School District and later in Prescott Valley for the Humboldt Unified School District and held the position of Director of Instrumental Music where she led and taught Marching Band, Orchestra, Guitar, Jazz Band as well as school musicals. She received numerous awards in all areas of music, but always said that the true reward was being a part of the lives of countless young people and inspiring them to reach for excellence and honor. Amie spent her time in service to her family, school, community and church. She was an avid reader and movie buff and enjoyed crafting, sewing and teaching private music lessons. She was a fierce friend and improved the lives of all who knew her, but her heart always belonged first to her children and she found the greatest joy in being a mother and supporting her children in their endeavors. Central to Amie’s life was her great faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ. It was through her faith that she faced and conquered countless health challenges throughout her life. Her positive attitude while facing these challenges made her a hero to many and an example to all. Always humble and cheerful, she leaves a legacy of faith, hope, charity and love. Amie’s life will be remembered and celebrated at a funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday May 7, 2016, at the Prescott Valley Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7073 Pronghorn Ranch Parkway, Prescott Valley, Arizona. There will be a viewing before the funeral beginning at 9:30 a.m. and a graveside service at Arizona Pioneer Home Cemetery in Prescott immediately following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Sunrise Funeral Home assisted the family. Information provided by survivors. |
