| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, May 11, 2016, page 10a Julie L. Hughes, age 88, of Prescott, Arizona, formerly of Oakwood, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Gene W. Hughes and a mother of three children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene W. Hughes; and sisters, Suzette Binder and Angela Burns. She is survived by her daughter, Meredith; and sons, Robert and John; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Linda, Mitchell, Haley; and great grandchildren Madelyn and Asher. Julie earned her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and Master’s degree of Education from Case Western Reserve University. She was a loving mother, gourmet cook, model, teacher, volunteer for the Cox Arboretum, member of the Junior League of Dayton and adventurous traveler. She loved art, music, playing the piano and singing in church choirs (St. Paul’s Episcopal, Oakwood and American Lutheran Church in Prescott) and the Yavapai College Master Chorale. Her hobbies included teaching French, painting, bridge, travel and entertaining friends and family. A memorial celebration of Julie’s life will take place at a date yet to be determined at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, 200 Shepherd’s Lane, Prescott, AZ 86301.
