Barbara Elaine (Bridge) Parker, of Prescott, born May 15, 1924, passed away peacefully after a fall and resulting head injury, in Cottonwood, Arizona on April 29, 2016. She was 91 years old.

Barbara had a deep love for her family and the many friends she kept in her heart, even when far away, including childhood friends and Redondo Union High School pals. She enjoyed traveling to distant countries to visit family and make new friends, life in Hermosa Beach where she was born in a little cottage on Ocean Drive and trips to the California mountain town of Lytle Creek, where she spent many youthful days and the years of her retirement, vegetable gardening and enjoying the fruits of the apple orchard in which she and husband John built their home. John was chief of the volunteer fire department and Barbara worked at the general store in the local RV Park.

Later in life, Barbara followed her son and daughter to Prescott, Arizona, where she happily lived for 16 years, eight of which she shared a home with her daughter Jan. At 76 years old, she joined a hiking club, a singles social club, exercise group and the Red Hat Society. She frequented the book exchange and library in search of her favorite mystery stories. Walking around the town square with friends was a lovely way to spend a spring day.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Estelle (McGill) and Collamer Bridge; her brother Richard Bridge; and her husband John Parker. She is survived by her son Gary Weaver; daughter Janice Haskell; granddaughters Kristen Dutcher, Indira Randol and Encanta Engleby; great granddaughters Kylie Dutcher, Kassidy Dutcher and Georgia Randol; and stepdaughters Denise Anderson and Diane Carr.

If you wish to make a donation in memory of Barbara Parker, please consider The Lytle Creek Community Center, Library Fund, P.O. Box 51, Lytle Creek, CA 92358. Barbara’s ashes will rest in the mountains above Lytle Creek. No public ceremony will be held. No flowers, please.
