Audrey Salvatore Covello, born June 5, 1927, departed this world May 12, 2016. She was born in Greene, New York, but moved to Bennington, Vermont at age 9.

Upon high school graduation, she left Bennington for New York City, where she attended St. Luke’s Nursing School.

While there, she met the love of her life, Leonard Covello. They were married 68 years and raised two children.

Audrey will be remembered for her love of travel. She loved planning the annual family camping trips across the U.S. and traveled extensively throughout the world in retirement. Besides traveling, Audrey was the utmost volunteer. While living in Livingston New Jersey, and Needham, Massachusetts, she was involved in Junior League, Junior Women’s Club, a Girl Scout leader, PTA, altar guild and was the children’s associate choir director at her church. She was most proud serving as Senior Warden at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church while living in Minneapolis, Minnesota along with maintaining the gardens around the church. Before retiring, Audrey worked as a Fashion Fabric Representative for Burlington Mills and as a medical technologist.

Audrey and Len chose to retire to Prescott, Arizona. They both jumped into contributing to their new home town volunteering at Prescott Rodeo Days, organizing the St. Luke’s Episcopal quilt show, seeing the need and starting the New Adventures daycare program, leading many hiking club trips rebuilding hiking trails, was a long time board member of the Hospital Women’s Auxiliary to name just a few.

Audrey loved to write and wrote ‘Health Tips’ for the YMCA retirement quarterly magazine and for the Prescott Methodist Church Christmas memory bulletin. Audrey also spent many years with the Prescott Art Docent program volunteering with local schools and was honored as the Art Docent of the Year in 2002-03. She will be remembered by many because of her contributions and lovingly missed by her family: Daughter Lynn Ebsen (Paul) of Waynesville, North Carolina; son Mark (deceased); granddaughter Julie Demuth (Paul); grandson Scott Ebsen (Kristen); great grandchildren Westin, Emerson and Shepherd Ebsen, also Gail Covello Kimball.
