| The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 06/03/2016 Betty Jane Joy, 89, formally of Taylor, died Thursday May 19, 2016, in Flagstaff. Betty was born Sept. 17, 1926, oldest of three children to George and MaryEllen Daves in Claypool. She grew up and lived in many parts of the state her entire life. On Jan. 24, 1954, Betty married the love of her life, Dwight Joy. They lived and worked on the OW Ranch for many years until Dwight passed away in 1993. Betty then moved to Show Low to live with her oldest daughter, Cheryl. While in Show Low, she joined the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW Post 9907 and started taking cake-decorating classes. Betty and Cheryl moved to Taylor, where she spent 20 wonderful years. Betty enjoyed all aspects of life, especially the outdoors, flowers, cooking, baking, canning and sewing. She won many blue ribbons from these hobbies in the fairs throughout the years. Most of all, Betty loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She said, “They make life worth living.” Betty was preceded in death by twin sons; her loving husband, Dwight Joy; brother George Daves; sister Joyce Brenton; and grandson Floyd Adams. She is survived by her son, Bill (Andrea) Eubanks of Flagstaff; daughters Cheryl Adams of Taylor and Linda (Steve) Piper of Flagstaff; son Jerry (Belinda) Eubanks of Eloy; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
