Arrangements by ABC Funerals. ------------------------------ The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, June 1, 2016, 7a Jesse Whitfield Sumners, age 84, passed away in Prescott, Arizona, on May 24, 2016. Mr. Sumners was born on Sept 18, 1931, in Coleman, Texas, to Roland and Mary Susan (Sudie) Sumners. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Sumners; two sons, Robert (Jill) Sumners and James (Lisa) Sumners; daughter Lynetta (Terry) Smith; four grandchildren, Tina, Shane, Tommy and Andrea; seven great-grandchildren. Sisters include Wilma Sandavol and Cookie Sampson; brothers Monte (Linda) Sumners, Donald (Peggy) Sumners; stepsons Rocky (Elvie) Golleher, Tommy (Jennifer) Golleher, Michael (Rhonda) Golleher; stepdaughter Deborah Golleher; and Janet McGuerry. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jarvis Bonita (Bonnie) Sumners; two sons, Ricky and Anthony; three brothers, Klleen, Trent, and Emmett; and two sisters, Winona and Lois. Mr. Sumners was also known as DUB, who was a true war hero during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Medal of Valor. To his family and friends he was a great husband, father, grandfather and stepfather. A funeral service with full military honors will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016, at the Prescott V.A. Chapel. Military Honors will be held by the American Legion Post No. 6, and the Dept. of the Army. ABC Funerals is in charge of arrangements. Information provided by survivors.
