Arrangements by Heritage Memory Mortuary. ------------------------- The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, June 15, 2016, page 7a Nyla went home to the Lord on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. She was born on Nov. 7, 1932, in Glendale, California. She grew up in the LA area, and after graduating from high school she worked at a bank. Then in 1953, she married her childhood sweetheart John. Nyla and John spent time in Sacramento, California, Michigan, Nevada, Boron, California, Huntington Beach, California, Alaska and Woodland Hills, California. They retired to Prescott in 1992. She earned an AA degree at Orange Coast College. She worked in accounting for several years prior to moving to Alaska, where she worked in a yarn shop catering to the tourists. It was in Alaska that Nyla began quilting. Quilting quickly became her passion and she continued to quilt the rest of her life. She was an active member in the “Thumb Butte Quilters,” “Mountaintop Quilters” as well as the “Friendship Quilters,” “Tuesday Night Quilters” and the “Calico Quilters.” She shared her talent and expertise with many quilters during her lifetime. Nyla was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Prescott for 24 years. During that time she participated in several Bible Study groups and also made several quilts for the church. She also served as the church treasurer for a number of years. During her lifetime she enjoyed traveling, bird watching, hiking, camping and of course quilting. She is survived by two daughters, Glenna (Raymond) and Laura (Rick); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at the American Lutheran Church, 1085 Scott Drive, Prescott. A short service will follow at the VA Cemetery.
