| The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/27/2016 Katherine “Katie” Wagner, 88, of Show Low peacefully died May 17, 2016. Katie was born Dec. 11, 1927, in McCloud, Calif., to Katherine and Elwood Horton. She grew up on Josephine Street in Berkley, Calif., with her three brothers and four sisters. In 1947 Katie married Pete Wagner and began a life of moving all over the United States, finally settling in Show Low in early ‘80s. Show Low became the home she dearly loved. “Katie was the rock of our family and steadfastly independent. We will miss our mother whom we could always turn to for love and support.” Katie is survived by one brother, Stewart Horton, son Ron Wagner, daughter Sandy Rogers, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Wagner; son Dennis Wagner; daughter Carol Wagner; parents, and six of her brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, at the Owens Livingston Mortuary White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th St., in Show Low.
