Herbert Pierce LeGendre 1959-2016

Herbert Pierce LeGendre was born in Tucson, AZ on June 9, 1929. He was raised in Sonoita, AZ and graduated from Patagonia Union High School in 1947.

During his high school years he played in a dance band in the area.

He was preceded in death by his father Ed LeGendre, his mother Pearl LeGendre and his brother Ed LeGendre Jr. He is survived by his wife Lorraine Jones.

He spent two years in the Army during the Korean War. He took the GI bill and graduated from Cal Poly in 1957 as an electronic engineer.

During the summers while in college he worked at Fort Huachuca and was part of a group that developed the first drone surveillance system for the Army.

He worked in aerospace for Motorola for 14 years then joined the City of Phoenix for 20 years as a communication engineer.

There, he was part of a team that built the first successful computer aided dispatch system for the Phoenix Fire Department.

He was a member of the Elks and the American Legion.

After retirement he ended up in Cottonwood, AZ where he passed away on May 25, 2016.
