| Prescott Evening Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, July 8, 1930, page 1, column 8 Pioneer Dies In Local Shoe Shop Maston Young, 63, found dead in his shoe repair shop on North Cortez last night, succumbed to natural causes, a coroner's jury declared today. Young was found at 6:10 last night by John Sturgis, an employee at the shop, who had left twenty minutes earlier for his dinner. He had been ill recently with heart trouble, Sturgis said. Young had been a Prescott resident for the past thirty years, coming here from North Carolina. Although he had mentioned a brother and sister, Sturgis said, their present addressed were unknown to young, he believes. For a time after coming to Arizona, Young was employed by the railroad shops. Sturgis asked his employer if he did not wish to leave with him as he went to dinner, he said, but Young replied that he would stay in the shop awhile. He was sitting in his chair when Sturgis returned. The coroner's jury, summoned this morning by Coroner Gordon Clark, returned a verdict of natural causes, probably heart trouble. The jury included the following: H.E. Crutchfield, W.H. McNeilan, R.J. Weiland, Guy Hartman, F.W. Everhart and Oscar Phippeney. Transcriber's note: Mr. Young is buried in an unmarked grave at the Citizens Cemetery, Prescott, Arizona. |
