Annette Louise (Houtz) Compton, 70, passed away on June 5, 2016, at her home in Dewey, Arizona, and arrived at her new Heavenly Home.

She is preceded in death by her father, LaVern Houtz. Annette is survived by her husband of nearly 45 years, Cordell Rowe Compton; her daughters, Angelica Michelle DeJolie and Gina Danielle Torres (spouse, Tony Torres); her grandchildren, Bryan Torres, Emilio Torres, Halleli DeJolie, Elijah DeJolie, Hannah DeJolie, Haniiyah DeJolie; her mother, Allene (Covey) Houtz; her siblings, Vernon Duane Houtz, Verlene Houtz Thompson, James Ronald Houtz, Atona Frank Houtz; and countless other family members who were dear to her heart.

Annette was born Aug. 25, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky, and later moved to Lexington, Kentucky, at a young age with her family. Annette graduated from Clark County High School (Winchester, Kentucky) in 1963. Annette also graduated from Southeastern Christian College (Winchester, Kentucky) and attended Harding College (now University), Searcy, Arkansas.

She and Cordell met in February 1971 and they were married in December 1971. They lived in Louisville, Kentucky, where they raised their family; Annette was a full-time mother. In 1988, they moved to Arizona to begin missionary work on the Navajo Reservation. When that work ended, they moved to Page, Arizona, and lived there from 1990 to 2005, when Cordell’s secular work allowed them to move to Prescott Valley. After he retired from the Town of Prescott Valley in 2012, Annette (already then retired) and Cordell then moved to Dewey, Arizona.

Being a preacher’s kid, Annette always loved the Word of God and studied it diligently. She was a prayer warrior at the various churches she attended, most recently at Refiners’ Fire Cowboy Church, Chino Valley, where Cordell also serves as associate pastor. Annette was an encourager using God’s Word to help people in need. She was devoted to her family, her church family and most of all, to her Heavenly Father.
