Brent David Van Dyke, 58, longtime resident of Overgaard, died Nov. 2, 2015, in a fire at his residence in Overgaard. He was born Feb. 3, 1957, to David C. Van Dyke and Beverly J. Van Dyke in Rockford, Ill.
Brent graduated from Rockford East High School in Rockford, Ill., in 1975. He attended Pima Community College in Tucson and soon after moved to Overgaard to begin working for the U.S. Forest Service. He also worked in construction and for many years was a bartender at The Cabin and the American Legion, both in Overgaard.
Brent was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping and hiking in Arizona with his lifelong friends. He was a beloved member of the Overgaard community and will be missed by all.
Brent is survived by his daughter, Payton Tanner, and three sisters, Ronalie Glacinski of Lexington, Ill., Dawn Van Dyke of Teaneck, N.J. and Denise Van Dyke of Bradley Beach, N.J., who all miss him dearly
Brent was preceded in death by his father, David Van Dyke, and mother Beverly Van Dyke
There will be a Celebration of Life picnic from 2 p.m. until dark Friday, June 24, at the Tall Timbers Park Pavilion. Please bring a dish to pass and a beverage.
