Louis Lind Martindell

Louis Lind Martindell, 87, died Wednesday morning June 1, 2016, at his Snowflake home. He was born June 30, 1928, in Central Graham to Joseph Pennel and Caroline Amanda (Winslow) Martindell.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Pearl (Stapley) Feb. 3, 1956, in the Mesa LDS Temple in Mesa. They had six boys and three girls with this union.

He served in the National Guard from 1956-58 in Fort Monmouth, N.J., and at White Sands, N.M. He received a lot of his technical schooling from serving there. He did whatever was necessary to provide for his family, from being an ambulance driver to becoming a radar technician for Luke Air Force Base, where he worked for many years.

Then Louis moved to Snowflake and he worked for Cholla Power Plant another 11 years where he retired in 1990.

Then, in times of need, he would run newspaper routes in the White Mountain area, delivering the Arizona Republic, Wampum and White Mountain Independent.

He is survived by his daughters, Linda Towles, Katherine Martindell and Krindy Lee Slate; sons James Emery, Robert Lind, John Thomas and D. Andrew Martindell; and 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl (Stapley), and his sons, Keith Allen and Tony Wayne Martindell.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at the Phoenix Memorial Park Cemetery and Mortuary in Phoenix.

Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor handled arrangements.
