Joseph Sidney Woolford

Joseph Sidney Woolford, 95, died June 3, 2016. He was born Dec. 29, 1920, to George and Lillie (Hall) Woolford in Show Low.

Joseph married his sweetheart of 75 years, Louise Lewis, on Aug. 31, 1940, and their marriage was solemnized March 4, 1958, in the Mesa Temple.

Joseph was a proud member of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific during World War II.

Joseph was an architectural hardware consultant by trade which allowed him to move to several different states, but Show Low always remained his home and he returned back in 1985.

Joseph was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church callings throughout his lifetime. He was an active a member of the Show Low Second Ward where he cherished the friendships of the ward members.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Mildred and George, son Lynn and special daughter Joleen.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Louise; Farrel (Dee) Woolford of Gilbert; Evelyn (Joe) Veltri of Salt Lake City, Utah; Lewis (Diane) Woolford of Spanish Fork, Utah; Leslie (Ron) Woolford of West Jordan, Utah, and daughter-in-law Phyllis of Hoquiam, Wash.; 18 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and host of other relatives and friends.

The Woolford family would like to give a special thanks to all the ward members, friends and neighbors who gave countless hours of compassionate service over the past few months.

The visitation viewing will be from 10-11:30 a.m. Friday June 10, at the Owens Livingston Mortuary in Show Low, 320 N. 9th St., and a graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. at the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery in Taylor.
