| Anchorage Daily News, Anchorage, Alaska Sunday, June 21, 1987 Longtime Alaskan Jessie Ainsworth died June 18 in the hospital in Soldotna at the age of 90. Ms. Ainsworth, of Kenai, was a homesteader and a dietitian for Kenai area schools. She was born June 23, 1896, in Walker, Ariz. She moved to Alaska in 1950, and homesteaded in the North Kenai area in 1952. She served in the U.S. Army in World War II, and was was one of the founders of American Legion Post 20 in Kenai. She also belonged to American Association for Retired Persons, Soldotna Senior Citizens Center, Kenai Garden Club, Pioneers of Alaska and Kenai Historical Society. She is survived by her grandchildren, James Satathite of Nikiski, William Satathite of Kenai, John English of Soldotna, Joanne Richter of Redding, Calif., and Lana Valladon of Anderson, Calif., along with 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. There was a funeral for Ms. Ainsworth at the American Legion Post 20 in Kenai, with burial following at Kenai City Cemetery. The American Legion presided at the funeral. Visitation was at Peninsula Memorial Chapel, which handled the funeral arrangements. |
