| Camp Verde Bugle, Cottonwood, Arizona Saturday, July 16, 2016 Douglas Lynn Hudson, 73, of Rimrock, Arizona, passed away in a fatal car accident while traveling to Santa Fe, NM to visit his daughter, granddaughter and family to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend. He passed on July 2, 2016. Doug was born to Harold Hudson and Leona Meyers in Downey, California on December 16, 1942. Doug was the youngest of three siblings; Virgil Hudson and sister Janice Gelens. Doug was married to Patricia Katherine Barnes on April 1, 1961. He was with Pat for 23 years, they raised two children; Martin Lee Hudson and Kellie Lynn Shelton. Doug had a successful Advertising and Marketing Company- Douglas Hudson and Associates, based in San Francisco, California. While semi-retired he launched a business called Classic Safaris, a tour company which took guests on hunting safaris in Zimbabwe, Africa. Doug's passion was hunting, traveling and spending time with his son Marty, his daughter Kellie and his four granddaughters; Haley Lynn Shelton, Shelby Amber Shelton, Alexandra Lee Hudson and Sarah Lynn Hudson. Doug was so animated and funny. He loved to make people laugh. He cherished his sweet shih tzu, Bently, even though his ability to train him was marginally successful. He was successful however, in being a loving Dad who brought fun and laughter into the home. Everyone who knew him has a funny story attached, they speak about him with a smile and chuckle. Doug will truly be missed by his family and community. A celebration of life is planned in August on the Delta River in California, some of his greatest memories were while boating with friends and family. Information provided by survivors. |
