| Daily Courier (Prescott AZ) Sunday, August 14, 2016 Cortlandt "Arden" Carter Jr., 97, of Walnut Grove, passed away July 28, 2016, at Aspen Creek Care Home in Prescott Valley, Arizona. He was born July 9, 1919, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Cort and Stella (Cartwright) Carter. He graduated from Prescott High School then went on to Arizona State College in Tempe where he was a running back on the football team. He then returned home to help his father, Cort, run the family ranch. The Necktie Ranch was the first ranch in Yavapai County. He participated in many rodeos throughout Arizona including the Prescott Frontier Days and was an outstanding calf and team roper. He raised, trained, and ran some of the best quarter horses in Arizona. He loved sports especially boxing and, of course, the Arizona Sun Devils. He was a member of the Walnut Grove School Board for 40 years. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Irene; sisters, Gwen Sheppard and Lorraine Carter Fletcher Walker; and grandson, Travis Carter. He is survived by his son, Tripp Carter; daughter, Connie Andersen; grandchildren, Autumn Andersen and Allison Glatstein; great-grandchildren, Ari and Nili Glatstein, Brayden and Brielle Carter. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at Walnut Grove Chapel.
