| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, July 12, 2016 George “Dick” Richard Gaut, 91, of Kirkland, passed away on July 7, 2106, in Prescott Arizona. A complete obit to follow. Abcfunerals is in charge of arrangements. ------------------------ The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, July 13, 2016 George Richard “Dick” Gaut, 91, passed away on July 7, 2016, at the Prescott V.A. Medical Center in Prescott, Arizona, with his loving wife and family by his side. Dick was born and raised in Tyler, Texas, by his parents James E. Gaut and Etta Jane Thompson Gaut. As a young man, he enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 18, where he served as a WWII Combat Veteran. He ranked as Sergeant serving with the 612 Tank Destroyer Battalion, Gun Commander, Tank Commander and was in the European Campaign where he was in five major campaigns and received five Bronze service stars. Dick is survived by his wife, Janet Spell Gaut; children, Cindy Gaut Simmons, Janet Gaut Corbett; step daughter, Darby Reiter; his seven grandchildren, Josh Koder, Jonathan Koder, Leon Corbett, Erin Corbett, John Rychlik, Janah Simmons Rodriguez, Alex Reiter; eight great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Dick was preceeded in death by his parents; and daughter, Suzanne Gaut Koder Oates. A military graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the Ebenezer Cemetery in Arp, Texas. Entrusted into the care of ABC Funerals of Prescott Valley, Arizona.
