Derik went home to be with Jesus on July 14, 2016, at the age of seven, surrounded by his family.

Derik’s life was considered short to many people, but he was able to experience God’s plan for his life.

Derik was greatly loved. He touched and changed the lives of many people and brought them closer together. Although he faced many medical challenges, he was able to experience happiness in life with his family and friends.

Sounds are where Derik showed his joy: his contagious laugh, his personal sounds of raspberries and squeaks from his chewy. Listening to birds chirping would get a rise out of him, and he loved the sounds of the ocean. During quiet time for everyone else, Derik would fill the room with his sounds and noises. He enjoyed time with family, being held and played with, chewing on his chewies, riding horses, and baseball.

Doodlebug will be missed greatly. Derik was a blessing to his daddy, C Jason, mommy Melissa; siblings Jaylynn, Jaron, Julia, Jasmine, Odin and Benson. Preceded in passing, brother Nehemiah. He was also loved by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Celebration for Derik’s life will be 3 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Lifepointe Church, 10100 State Route 69, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314
