Herbie D. Altaha, 52, of Whiteriver entered into eternal rest from Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix after a long-term illness. Herbie was born Nov. 13, 1963, to Dempsey Altaha and Rosella Nachu Altaha.
Herbie was raised by his loving grandmother, Dollie Nachu. He met and married the love of his life, Malinda Altaha, on March 16, 1987. He enjoyed his traditional dancing and beliefs, loved being outdoors and going fishing. Also, he really liked to be with his friends and listen to music and play the drums.
He is survived by his wife, Malinda Altaha; two daughters, Chadeen and Dana Altaha; one grandson, Dakota Altaha; and nephew Dewayne James.
He is also survived by his three brothers, Duane, Harold and Lebert Altaha; three nephews and nine nieces; and many other relatives and friends.
Herbie was preceded in death by his two sons, Milton and Wacey Altaha; daughter Harriet Altaha; mother Rosella Nachu Altaha; grandmother Dollie Nachu; and aunt Mary Nachu.
A wake was held in his honor Monday, Aug. 15, with funeral services Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the North Fork Miracle Church with Pastor Lex Baha officiating. Interment followed at the Whiteriver Cemetery.
