George “Ged” Edward McMahon passed away on Aug. 3, 2016, after a prolonged illness. Ged was born and raised in Chicago, and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1962-65. He was stationed much of the time in Italy and Germany. During his service he was recognized for his talent and skills as a Sharp Shooter, and for his sharp wit.

Ged had a passion for cars, guns and military planes. He was able to turn his passion of cars into a career in the automotive industry and his passion of guns into long lasting friendships with other enthusiasts.

In 1984 he relocated to Manchester, Connecticut, with his family. Ged held several manager positions in the automotive industry throughout his career, and in 2003 he decided to retire and move to Prescott, Arizona. Typical of Ged, he joined the local gun club before even moving into his home. Ged was able to spend much of his retirement enjoying his favorite pastime at the shooting range.

Ged will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughters Christine Holwell and Courtney McMahon Kazmercyk; son Scott McMahon; and brother Terrance McMahon.

Ged was predeceased by his parents, George Edward McMahon, Sr. and Cecelia Mary (Brankin) McMahon; and his sister Denise Egan.

A service will be held Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 at 3 p.m. Please join the family for a light reception at the restaurant, The Best Western, 1317 Gurley St. in Prescott.

Special thanks to the Care Patrol, Brookdale Assisted Living, Maggie’s Hospice and Good Samaritan Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the VA Hospital.

Entrusted into the care of ABC Funerals, Prescott Valley, Arizona.
