GREGG, JR., Wilkie Jaycee (Butch)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 09/09/2016 Wilkie Jaycee Gregg Jr. In loving memory of husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and nephew Wilkie Jaycee Gregg, Jr., also known as “Butch,” he went to be with the Lord Sept. 1, 2016. He was born Nov. 28, 1966. Butch attended East Fork Lutheran High School and graduated with the Class of 1984. He attended Northern Arizona University for one year and majored in forestry. He then attended Eastern Arizona College and studied general studies for two years where he was one of the top students. Butch worked with Apache 2 Crew for two years and was promoted to the Fort Apache Hot Shots for six years. He also worked with Sonny Earl Logging, Canyon Creek Logging, Rick Holladay Logging and at Sunrise. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and writing. Butch is survived by his wife, Gracie Gregg; sons, Waylon Gregg, Nigel Gregg and David Gregg; daughters, Tonalyn Gregg Mull, Kirsten Gregg, and April Anderson; five grandchildren; father Wilkie Gregg, Sr.; step-mother Berta Gregg; mother Sally Gregg; sisters, Cheryl Thompson, Sharilyn Gregg; and brother-in-law Toby Thompson, as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wilton “Mitch” Gregg. “Thank you Jesus for displaying the greatest act of love and faithfulness on Calvary, when you suffered to death on the cross for my sins. It is only through you and no other that can lead me to and open the gates of heaven. I believe this and no one can take it from me. I submit to you and pray you would forgive my sins. Thank you, WJGJ.” R.I.P. Butch. A two night wake started Thursday, Sept. 8, at Sally Gregg’s residence in Another World, West Bridle St. in Whiteriver. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Open Bible Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Lupe officiating. Interment will be in North Fork Golden Gorge Cemetery. All Tribal dignitaries and gospel singers are welcome. The family requests the Hot Shot Crews, former of past, to escort his body home on the day of the funeral.
