| The Arizona Republican, Phoenix, Arizona Territory Sunday, April 18, 1909, page 13, column 5 L. K. Drais of the Florence hotel received the sad news Wednesday afternoon of the death of his son-in-law, E. B. Moden, of Prescott. As no particulars were given, the cause of his death is unknown. Mr. Moden has been a bookkeeper for one of the largest houses in Prescott and also Assistant city clerk form many years. He has been a resident of Prescott for the past seventeen years. Mr. Drias received the message too late to leave on the afternoon train, so drove to Mesa after night, intending to take the early morning train to Phoenix and there catch the Santa Fe going north. Mr. and Mrs. Moden were married in Florence twenty years ago and there are still a great many of their friends who will sympathize deeply with the widow and three little sons and a daughter in their bereavement. --------------------------- Weekly Journal-Miner, Prescott, Arizona Territory Wednesday, April 21, 1909, page 5, column 4 Last Tribute Of Esteem Is Paid (From Sunday's Daily) Every available rig in the livery stables of the city, as well as almost every private conveyance, was in service at the funeral of Erick Brownrigg Moden yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, from his late home on North Mount Vernon street. The procession was the longest seen here in many years. The W.O.W. and A. O. U. attended in a body. The mayor, members of the city council, and city officials were also present to pay their last respects to Mr. Moden, who so efficiently filled his office of city clerk many years. The Rev. L. W. Smith of the Episcopal Church conducted the church services. The last sad rites closed with the beautiful and impressive funeral ceremonies of the Woodmen of the World, in which he had held membership since its organization here. The pall bearers were J. W. Wilson, S. A. Prince, Charles Born, A. L. Smith, Herman Voge and F. E. Andrews During the funeral, from 2:30 to 3:30 o'clock all saloons in the city were closed as a mark of respect to the deceased city official.
