| South Bend Tribune (South Bend, Indiana) Monday, April 11,2016 Mishawaka--Richard "Dick" B. Koch, age 88, of Mishawaka passed away peacefully on April 9, 2016 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka where he had been a patient for a brief time. Richard was born on September 11, 1927 in Miller, South Dakota to the late Bernard and Dorothy (Harn) Koch. Dick married his wife of 60 years, Catherine J. Hoover, on October 23, 1955 at First Methodist Church in Goshen, Indiana. She survives. He retired from the former Bendix Corporation (Honeywell) in South Bend in 1986 after over 30 years of faithful service. Dick graduated in 1946 from Goshen High School and was involved with various sports during his school years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed coaching little league for his son Robin at the former Northside Little League in Mishawaka, IN. Dick enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, crossword puzzles and traveling in his RV throughout the U.S. Dick and his wife wintered in Arizona for 20 years. In his early days, he enjoyed dancing, camping, and bowling. Dick was a lifetime member of the DAV and the Moose Lodge in Goshen, IN, as well as a member of the American Legion in Wickenburg, AZ. The family would like to thank St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN along with Michiana Hematology Oncology, PC for their excellent care. Catherine survives along with two loving children, Kim Marie Koch of Mishawaka, IN and Robin Lee Koch of Granger, IN; two wonderful granddaughters, Christy (Paul) Gulas of West Lafayette, IN and Casey (Tony Sholty) Koch of South Bend, IN; one cherished great-granddaughter, Lorellai Sholty and another great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by brothers, Kenneth (Pat) Koch of Middlebury, IN and Ronal (Norma) Koch of Martinsville, IN; sisters-in-law, Emma Koch of Mishawaka, IN and Ann Koch of Elkhart, IN; brothers-in-law, John (Goldie) Hoover of Goshen, IN and Rolland (Norma) Hoover of Grants Pass, OR and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Koch and Roger Koch; parents-in-law, Daniel and Helen Hoover; and daughter-in-law, Betsy Koch. Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 4-8 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561. A funeral service in Mr. Koch's honor will be Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 10 AM at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
