| Camp Verde Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Saturday, October 8, 2016 LAKE MONTEZUMA -- Raymond John Ackerman, 88, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 at the Valley View Care Hospice in Cottonwood following a battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife Betty of 55 years, daughter Kim Mitchell of Chandler, Arizona, his granddaughter Melissa Shumway of Chandler, Arizona and 3 great-grandchildren along with his brother Elmer Ackerman, age 101, of Redding, California. Born in Los Angeles, California in 1928 and retired in Lake Montezuma, Arizona area in 1992. He served in the Army and Air Force during WW2 and Korea. Ray had a passion for RC model airplanes and was a local member of CAM (Central Arizona Modelers) of Sedona, Arizona. He was also an avid golfer and was a member of Beaver Creek Golf Course.
