| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, September 30, 2016 Luis F. Fernandez, MD, 85, of Prescott, Arizona, passed away on Monday, Sept. 26th. He was born on Aug. 21, 1931 in San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic to Elpidia Mena & Ramon Fernandez. Luis is survived by his loving wife Sandra Fernandez of 58 years; his children; Dr. Luis A. Fernandez, Ralph Fernandez, Dr. Marco Fernandez, Gina Fernandes, Jill Norbe and Michelle Wells and their spouses; and his precious 19 grandchildren; and brother Dr. Manual Fernandez. Luis and Sandra lived in New Jersey for 39 years raising their children. He served the community of Morris County as a well-respected pediatrician. As a mentor, caring physician and leader in the community, he gave his time and devotion to many families. His family brought him so much pride and joy as did his amazing wife Sandy. He loved the game of golf and the many companions and friendships he acquired at Rockaway River Country Club in New Jersey, as well as at La Romana CC in the Dominican Republic. He has been a wonderful example of love, support and strength as the patriarch of his family. He and Sandra moved to Prescott, Arizona in 2013. A memorial service will be on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Sunrise Funeral Home located at 8167 E. Highway 69 Prescott Valley, AZ 86314. The viewing will begin at 10 a.m. and the service at noon. A celebration of life will follow from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 1st at the Fernandez Home, 128 East Soaring Ave., Prescott 86301. Arrangements entrusted to Sunrise Funeral Home.
