Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Thursday, October 8, 1964, p 7 Bert Headley Rites Tuesday Funeral services were held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning of this week for Albert R. (Bert) Headley of Wenden, who passed away following a brief illness October 1 in the Veterans Hospital at Prescott. The Rev. Dan Gerrard, Rector of St. Alban's Episcopal Church here officiated at the Wickenburg Chapel and burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Born October 10, 1897 at The Delles (sic: Dalles), Oregon, Mr. Headley was brought to Arizona when 8 years of age and lived practically all of his life in this state, most of it in the triangular area where Maricopa, Yavapai and Yuma Counties meet. He grew up on the Burro Creek Ranch northwest of Wickenburg and later engaged in mining in the Octave, Congress and Yarnell areas. While living in Wickenburg in 1946 he was appointed Town Marshal and held that position four years. Two years ago he and Mrs. Headley moved to Wenden where he became president of the Board of Directors of the Wenden Water Works and supervised an extensive program of extending water service to residents in that community. He was a veteran of World War I. Mr. Headley is survived by the widow Thelma; a sister Gladys Headley, Brownsville, Tex., and two brothers, Jim, Tucson, and Tom, also a resident of Arizona.
