Evon Baron Johnson, 91, of Prescott, Arizona, formerly of Kankakee, Illinois, passed away on October 21, 2016 at his home in Prescott. His memorial mass will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Evon was born in Danforth, Illinois, to Orville E. and Jeanette (Baron) Johnson. His childhood was spent in Danforth and attended Beland Grade School in Danforth. He graduated from Gilman High School in 1943. He worked at Roper Stove, A.O. Smith, Gould National Battery all in Kankakee and 29 1/2 years with Shell Oil in Torrance, California.

Evon was a Veteran of the U. S. Maritime Service from 1944 to 1951 serving in Atlantic and Pacific Theaters as a Merchant Marine. He married Mary A. Pyzdrowski in Kankakee, Illinois, on January 22, 1955. They moved to Redondo Beach, California on January 28, 1955. They later moved to Arizona in 1988.

Evon is survived by a sister - Janet Dowling of Greenwood, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife - Mary, who passed away on September 5, 2013; six Uncles and two Aunts.

Evon was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Prescott, Arizona. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 541 in Prescott.
