Bernie Sanchez rode into heaven on Sunday, October 23rd. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben P and Margaret. Bernie was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was one of nine children. He moved with his wife and son to Cottonwood, Arizona, in 1996.

Bernie is survived by his wife, Margie; son, Shay; daughter-in-law, Rebecca; granddaughters, Skyler and Dakota, brothers and sisters, David (Nadine), Jane (Christopher), Dorothy (Phil), Michael, Karen, Denise (Anders), Mary (Joe), Anne; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and devoted friends.

Bernie worked in construction and transportation for the majority of his life, spending the last 16 years with CTI. He was happiest when spending time with his two granddaughters or riding his Harleys with his wife, family, and friends. An avid Harley Davidson enthusiast who enjoyed riding, wrenching and every aspect of motorcycles, “Grandpa Harley” would frequently ride thousands of miles to visit his granddaughters in Oregon and family in New Mexico. As the original Arizona Cardinals fan, his emotional participation in the games will be greatly missed. Bernie was admired by everyone who knew him for his fierce loyalty to his family and friends.

A celebration of Bernie’s life will be held on Saturday, October 29th, at 2pm, at American Legion Post 25, located at 480 S. Calvary Way, Cottonwood, AZ 86326. Please come and share your favorite Bernie memories. Flowers and pre-paid bar chips are welcome.
