| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Thursday, November 3, 2016 <<< >>> Jan. 9, 1936 - Oct. 22, 2016 <<< Marlene L. Steiner, 80, of Lake Havasu City passed away Oct. 22. She was born in Chicago, Ill. to Oscar and Michaela Zink. Her family moved to Glendale, Ariz., when she was four years old, where she attended grammar and high school. While at Glendale Union High School, Marlene became interested in horses, rode and showed her Arizona State Champion Palomino and organized several horse shows for the benefit of the high school. Later in life, Marlene was the owner and manager of an escrow company (Steiner Escrow) on the corner of Wilshire and Western Avenues in Los Angeles. During Marlene’s spare time, she became interested in breeding champion Bichon Frise dogs, was awarded Breeder of Merit by the American Kennel Club in 2011, and established the Bichon Frise Club of greater Los Angeles. She continued as president until her passing. Marlene came to Lake Havasu City in 2014 to be close to her family members who have residences here. Marlene is survived by her husband Marvin Steiner, brothers Oscar Michael and Fulton Joseph Zink, sisters-in-law Denese and Bonnie Zink, nephew James Michael Zink and his wife Norma, nephew Fulton Joseph Zink Jr., and nieces Shawn (Zink) DeStacio and Jennifer (Nast) Olsen. Arrangements are under the care of Lake Havasu Mortuary and Crematory, veteran and family owned.
