| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Sunday, November 20, 2016 <<< Bruce “Skipper” Ferrie, 73, passed away Sept. 22, 2016. He was born to Patrick and Catherine (Foley) Ferrie on Dec. 26, 1942. Skipper attended South High School in Worcester, Mass. and graduated with the class of 1961. He then went on to become the owner of Ferribest Building and Remodeling Company. Skipper moved to Lake Havasu City with his family in 1979 from Massachusetts. He married his lovely wife Betty (Krause/Stokes) Ferrie on June 23, 1990 in Lake Havasu City. Skipper was an Eagle Scout and a lover of music, books, history, and his Lord. He was also a member of the Lakeview Church orchestra, a church camp counselor, was involved in the nursing home ministry and was former member of the Moose Lodge. Skipper was preceded in death by his parents Patrick and Catherine Ferrie, brothers Vincent Ferrie, Thomas Ferrie, Francis Ferrie and John (Jackie) Ferrie, sisters Judy Ferrie and Mary Ferrie O’Connor and daughter-in-law Robin (Schneider) Stokes. Skipper is survived by his lovely wife and best friend of 26 years, Betty (Krauss/Stokes) Ferrie, his children by a previous marriage: Helene (Andrew) Zayas, Troy (Karen) Ferrie and Erin (Beau) Willis, stepchildren Barbara (Mike) Butvidas, Larry Stokes, Chris Stokes and Kellie Stokes, 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and his brother Joseph Ferrie. Skipper is also survived by his constant fur buddy “Scruffy.” A celebration of life is at Lakeview Church, 1699 W. Acoma Blvd. on Dec. 10 at 2 p.m., followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either the Polidori House in Lake Havasu City or the Alzheimer’s Foundation in his memory. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
