| The Prescott Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, November 17, 1976, page 1, column 5 Bob Kuhne dies at 74; was civic leader here One of Prescott's foremost civic leaders, Robert H. Kuhne, 74, died Monday at Yavapai Community Hospital after a lingering illness. Born in Prescott, May 19, 1902, he was a lifetime resident of the city. For many years he was a well driller. From 1958 to 1959, he was a Yavapai County Supervisor for District 1; he was instrumental in starting the Miller Valley Fire Distinct in 1952. He was acclaimed Prescott's first 'Man of the Year' in 1958. Mr. Kuhne helped start the Yavapai Community Youth Center and with donated funds and labor, the facilities were completed. Later, a school for handicapped youngsters was added and named the Kuhne Day School in his honor. Survivors include: his widow, Helena of Prescott; a daughter, Mrs. Joab Looney of Scottsdale; a grandson, Michael Looney of Scottsdale; two brothers, Morris and Frank, both of Prescott. Funeral services will be held at Memory Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Friday with burial to follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Memory Chapel.
