Alice June Phipps, age 94, of Dewey, Arizona, passed away November 20, 2016 in Dewey, Arizona. Alice was born April 22, 1922 in Kenmore, Ohio.

Alice June Phipps, 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Dewey, Arizona, on Sunday morning, Nov. 20, 2016. June, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on April 22, 1922 in Kenmore, Ohio to Russell Hugh Loyd and his wife. Mary Alice Clair. In the summer of 1923. her family left Ohio and traveled by motor car to Southern California. where she grew up in the El Serreno district of Los Angeles. About 1934. the family relocated to the Lodi-Woodbridge area in the San Joaquin Valley, California. There June graduated from Lodi Union High School in 1941. She served as a President of the Woodbridge-Lodi Theta Rho Girls’ Club and was an attendant to the Queen in the Lodi Grape and Wine Festival of 1938. On May 17, 1943, June eloped with the love of her life, Lt. Charles S. Phipps, and married him in Reno, Nevada. She established the first of her many homes in Merced, California, loving and caring for her

husband and children as they were stationed at home and abroad. June had many interests and kept busy all the time. She was a great cook, loved to knit, crotchet and sew; she loved her gardens and her many pets.

June is survived by her four children, Carole Feingold of Dewey, John Phipps of Round Rock, Texas, Charles R. Phipps of Littleton, Colorado, and Mary Turner of Prescott; her 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Sharon, Chris, Scott, Jenna, Amy, Jessica, T.C., Angela, Kim and Kenneth; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in September 2016, her parents, and brothers Edgar and Walter Loyd.

June will rest beside her husband in Prescott National Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to www.ruffnerwakelin.com
